Walter Crane (1845 – 1915) was an English book illustrator and artist considered as being among the most prolific and influential children’s book producers of his generation. Crane also played a significant role in the Arts and Crafts movement, producing many illustrations, paintings, children’s books. Some notable books illustrated by Crane include Edmund Spenser’s “Faerie Queene” (1894–1896), “Sleeping Beauty and Other Fairy Tales” (1910), and “A Fairy Garland” (1929).
