Mad Hatter Day – 10 Mad Hatters for Alice in Wonderland Lovers
In celebration of Mad Hatter Day, we have compiled our favourite 10 Mad Hatter Illustrations from the collection in our book shop.
Since its first publication over 150 years ago, Alice in Wonderland has been illustrated many times over.
Mad Hatters Day is celebrated on the 6th of October in tribute to the original Mad Hatter in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. In the original illustrations by John Tenniel the Mad Hatter wears a hat with an order slip stating ‘This Style 10/6’ to represent the price of the hat and it was chosen as the celebratory date. It’s a day to celebrate the silly and foolish, and further celebrate the wonderful story known as Alice in Wonderland.
