Kay Nielsen‘s illustrations from Hansel and Gretel and Other Brothers Grimm Stories are some of his best loved work. Originally published in 1925, this book offers some of the best story illustration of all time. Nielsen was incredibly popular in the early twentieth century, as a key artist in the ‘Golden Age of Illustration‘ sweeping across the world. Nielsen joined the ranks of Arthur Rackham and Harry Clarke in enjoying the success of the illustrated book market at this time. He is also remembered for his collaborations with Disney, where he contributed many story sketches and illustrations for classic films such as Fantasia and The Little Mermaid.
